Agriculture is our main practical work, since we work in a farming village.
Today we have:
- 9 pre-teens in a pilot plantain program. These boys also run a business buying and selling maize.
- 3 families in a pilot dragon fruit program.
- 40 families in the organic farming program on maize plots.
- 10 beehives for honey.
- 90 young people and teenagers growing beans, sweet potatoes, cassava and plantain.
We are the only ones in Malawi producing tapioca flour and toasted cassava flour. We have already planted more than 3,000 trees.
Whenever we can, we buy maize at harvest time and resell it at a fair price when prices are high. We do this to help families in need and fight market exploitation.
We dream of producing charcoal made from branches and leaves. The idea is to promote more profitable agribusiness, giving families the opportunity to live with dignity without having to cut down trees to make charcoal.
Income generation
More than 100 families have already benefited from our business program:
- retail buying and selling;
- property rental;
- maize and vegetable farming;
- honey and cassava flour;
- carpentry;
- crafts;
- sewing and crochet.
Training
Our team has had opportunities to receive different training, both at YWAM and at partner institutions. Besides personal and ministry development, they also gain new paths to financial development to support their families.
